Cody Neal Hartis, 25, passed away Saturday, September 5, 2026. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM Monday, September 14, 2026 at Chester Memorial Gardens with with Rev. Clay Waldrip officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service.

Born October 16, 2000 in Rock Hill, SC, he was the son of Samuel Cole Hartis and Melissa Lashley Hartis. He grew up in Chester, SC and was a graduate of Chester County Schools. Cody was employed with UNFI in Richburg, SC as a security officer for five years before he began working for TMC Transportation in West Columbia, SC, where he earned his CDL and began a career in flatbed trucking. Cody was a member of First Baptist Church of Chester, SC. Cody enjoyed all sports and was a baseball player in his school years. He enjoyed hunting and fishing with his dad. Cody loved his family, friends, video games, music, the Clemson Tigers, and, like his dad and uncles, could often be found with a glass of sweet tea. Though a man of few words, he had a quiet kindness and great sense of humor. He would often have you laughing unexpectedly with a short, well-timed comment or joke, and wasn’t afraid to cut up with his sister or friends. He rarely complained or spoke negatively of others, and always greeted people with a smile. His easy-going spirit and good nature were always a comfort to those around him, and he was a deeply loved son, brother, nephew, cousin, and friend whose gentle presence will be dearly missed.

He is survived by his parents, Samuel Cole Hartis and Melissa Lashley Hartis, of Chester, SC; sister, Tess Hartis (Peter Brice) of Chester, SC; grandmother, Nancy Davis Lashley of Chester, SC; uncles and aunts, Tim and Edith Hartis of Rock Hill, SC; Ken and Pam Hartis of York, SC; Russell Lashley and Nancy Totherow White of Rock Hill, SC; cousins, Rendi Hartis Jones (Daniel), Trent Hartis (Landyn Russell), Audrey Hartis (Jay Westmoreland), and Justin Lashley.

Cody was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Royce Alvin Lashley; his paternal grandparents, Ernest Neal Hartis and Audrey Maxine Morgan Hartis, as well as his great grandmother Gertrude Adams Davis.
