The memorial service for Cleo Wall Chamberlain, 75, of Greenwood, SC, formerly of Chester, will be held at First Presbyterian Church of Greenwood at 2:30 pm, Sunday, August 2, 2009. She passed away on July 30, 2009 after a long battle with ALS (Lou Gehrigs Disease) .Born on May 31, 1934 and a Winthrop graduate, she moved back to Chester in 1965 and taught school for 15 years.She owned and operated The Inkwell on York Street from 1976-1982.Cleo was active in the founding of Chester Little Theater and was a member of Purity Presbyterian Church.In 1983, she moved to Lake Greenwood and spent the rest of her career teaching in the Greenwood County School District.After retirement, she volunteered at Self Memorial Regional Health care and was an active member of First Presbyterian Church of Greenwood and enjoyed being in the Greenwood Community Chorale and Emerald Bells. Cleo was preceded in death by her husband, Norton Chamberlain, mother, Julia Burris Wall, father, George Dewey Wall, 1 brother, and 3 sisters.She is survived by 1 brother, Bob Wall of Dade City, Fl,2 daughters, Kase Chamberlain of Columbia, SC and Beverly Wright of Chester, 2 grandchildren, Brittany Wright and Coley Wright of Rock Hill, SC and many nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends atBarons Funeral Home, Wylie Street, Chester, SC on Saturday, August 1, 2009 from 5:00pm-8:00pm. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Heartland Hospice House, 141 Stoneridge Drive, Columbia, SC 29210 in her memory.
