Columbia, SC Mr. Clarence Jefferson Bland, 89, died Monday, November 13, 2017, at Palmetto Health Richland.Funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM Wednesday, November 15, at Barron Funeral Home with Rev. Keith Hinson officiating.Interment will follow in Chester Memorial Gardens.The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Tuesday, November 14, at Barron Funeral Home, 133 Wylie St., Chester, SC. Mr. Bland was born February 23, 1928 in Chester County, SC and was a son of the late Leon Walter Bland and Ella Bee Gulledge Bland.He attended the schools of Chester County and was a retired veteran of the U.S. Navy.After his military service, Mr. Bland worked for and retired from Celanese Corporation in Rock Hill.He enjoyed golfing, ham radios and metal detecting. He is survived by his wife of over 70 years, Virginia McNinch Bland; three daughters, Lynda Miller of Chester, PA, Barbara Starnes (Chuck) and Nancy Robinson (Tim) both of Chester, SC; one son, Ricky Bland (Anne) of Rock Hill, SC; eight grandchildren; and eight great grandchildren.
