CHESTER, SC Mrs. Clara Louise Carter Keenan, 83, died Saturday, March 9, 2013 at the Chester Regional Medical Center.A memorial service will be held 2:00 PM Tuesday, March 12, 2013 at the First Baptist Church with Rev. Clay Waldrip officiating.The interment will be private. The family will receive friends immediately following the service in the foyer of the church. Born June 20, 1929 in Colbert, GA, Mrs. Keenan was a daughter of the late Ernest Carter, Sr. and Carrie Whitworth Carter.She attended the schools of Colbert, GA and Chester County and was retired from Springs Industries as an inspector.Mrs. Keenan was a member of Chester First Baptist Church , a wonderful cook and was the widow of Carson Keenan. Mrs. Keenan is survived by two daughters, Clair K. Payne and her husband David of Atlantic Beach, NC and Cynthia K. Phifer and her husband Tollie of Chester; one son, Dr. Joseph C. Keenan and his wife Debbie of Lancaster, SC; five grandchildren; John David Payne of Raleigh, NC, Josh Payne of Chester; Sam Keenan of Lancaster; Caleb Keenan of Lancaster and Tori Sanders of Chester; two great grandchildren, Carson Sanders and Lillie Sanders both of Chester and two sisters, Marie Roberts of Chester and Shirley Moore of Cosby, TN.In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by three brother, three sisters, a daughter, Carson Marie “Fleepy” Keenan and an infant daughter Kelly Christina Keenan.
