Chester Mr. Charles Fincher Griggs, Sr., 72, died Monday, February 9, 2015, at Piedmont Medical Center.A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday, February 12, 2015, at Chester Freedom Ministries with Rev. Steve Bishop officiating.Interment will be private. The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:00 PM on Thursday, February 12, 2015, at Chester Freedom Ministries, 729 Village Drive., Chester, SC29706. Mr. Griggs was born October 21, 1942, in Lancaster, SC and was a son of the late Fincher Henry Griggs and Jennie Mae (Gibson) Griggs.He was a graduate of Chester High School and USC – Lancaster.Mr. Griggs was a veteran of the U. S. Navy and retired from the Chester County Sheriff’s Dept.He was a member of Chester Freedom Ministries and a member of Richburg Masonic Lodge #89. He is survived by his wife of over 50 years, Marjorie Doran (Bennett) Griggs; a daughter, Jeannie L. Griggs of Edgemoor; a son, Charles F. “Chuck” Griggs, Jr. of Edgemoor; and several nieces and nephews. Memorials may be made to Chester Freedom Ministries, 729 Village Drive, Chester, SC29706.
