Chester Mr. Charles Edward Brantley, Sr., 87, passed away Thursday, November 24, 2022, at his home. A Celebration of Life service will be held at 3:00 PM Sunday, November 27, 2022, at Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church with Mr. Mike Wessinger and Rev. Michael Shaffer officiating. Interment will be private. The family will receive friends from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM Sunday at Wesley UMC, 1217 JA Cochran Bypass, Chester, SC and other times at the home. He was a son of the late Earl Newton Brantley and Thelma Dill Brantley. He was a member of Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church. Charles grew up in Lowrys, SC. His parents and grandparents had adjacent farms. He had many friends and fond memories of this time. He often said “when we played cowboys and Indians we rode real horses”. Charles was a life-long reader. As a young boy he loved and collected comic books and enjoyed swapping them with his friends. Charles was a good and decent man with a generous heart. He always made everyone feel welcome in his presence and in his home. Charles loved his family and his wife’s family as his own. Those he leaves to mourn are his wife of over 62 years, Mazie Wessinger Brantley; one son, Charles Brantley, Jr. (Rochelle); two grandchildren, David Cole Brantley and Jessica Brantley Williams (Frank); and one great grandson, Dylan Williams.
