Catherine Mccluney Bell

Mrs. Catherine McCluney Bell, 78, died Sunday, December 15, 2024 at her home.  A memorial service will be held at 1:00 PM, Thursday, December 19, 2024 at Barron Funeral Home with Rev. David Nalley and Rev. Michael Shaffer officiating. Interment will be private. The family will receive friends from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM Thursday, December 19, 2024 at Barron Funeral Home.

Mrs. Bell was born June 20, 1946 in Chester, SC and was the daughter of the late Otis McCluney and Levinia Earl Wright McCluney.  She was a graduate of Chester High School and South Carolina Criminal Academy. She was retired from Chester County Sheriff’s Department and she also worked with Spartanburg County in Landrum, SC and Inman, SC. Cathy worked as a children’s advocate and volunteered with the local Chester Ministerial Food Pantry. She was a member of First Baptist Church Lowry’s where she was very active in the life of the church. She worked as a leader with Sunday school and children’s ministry and other areas as needed.

She is survived by her husband of over 26 years, Rick Bell; two daughters, Donna Bishop (Rodney) of Inman, SC and Angie Horton of Inman, SC; six grandchildren, Lindsey Easler, Dustin Smith, Chad Smith, Amber Gregg, Greg Horton and Bailey Horton; fifteen great-grandchildren; two sisters, Joyce Burgess of Union, SC and Ruth Sherbert of Union, SC; one brother, Dale McCluney (Frances) of McBee, SC and numerous nieces and nephews.
