Chester------Carolyn Tennant Oliver, 79, passed away peacefully in the comfort of her daughter’s home, Thursday, October 23, 2025 in Chester, South Carolina.

 She was born September 10, 1946 in Blackstock, South Carolina to the late Francis Calvin Tennant and the late Dora Bankhead Tennant, and was married to Homer L. Oliver.Mrs. Oliver loved to share memories of growing up in Blackstock with her five siblings and square dancing at Cornwell. She was a graduate of Chester Senior High School in 1965. After graduation, she worked at Chester Laundry.She enjoyed spending time shopping at Hamrick’s, tending to her plants, and spending time with family (especially her grandchildren).

She is survived by her husband of over 54 years, Homer L. Oliver; a son, Homer "Snake" Lee Oliver, Jr. (Amanda); one daughter, Rebecca Oliver Canupp; and another son, William "Tater" Harold Oliver (Betsy), all of Chester, S.C. She has three grandchildren, James Tate Oliver, Peyton Fendley Oliver, and Jacob Alexander Canupp; two sisters, Mary Jean Jarvis (J.P.) and Susan Tennant Blue (Carson).She was predeceased by her daughter, Angela Oliver Proctor and her granddaughter, Susan Elizabeth Proctor. In addition to her parents, Carolyn was preceded in death by two sisters, Frances Tennant and Dorothy Ann Taylor and her brother James Henry Orr Tennant .Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Monday, October 27, 2025 at Barron Funeral Home with Rev. Michael Shaffer officiating. Interment will follow at 2:00 PM at Mt. Horeb Lutheran Church Cemetery, 256 Columbia Ave., Chapin, S.C. 29036. The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM Monday at Barron Funeral Home.
