Chester Carl Jefferson McWatters, 75, died Friday, July 18, 2014, at Piedmont Medical Center in Rock Hill.Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM on Monday, July 21, 2014, at Orrs Baptist Church with Rev. Randall Runion officiating.Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM on Monday at Orrs Baptist Church. Mr. McWatters was born September 8, 1938 in Chester County, SC and was a son of the late Johnny James “J.J.” McWatters and Bessie Jeanette Quinton McWatters.He attended the schools of Lewisville, was a member of the SC National Guard, and a retired truck driver.Mr. McWatters attended Orrs Baptist Church and enjoyed playing bluegrass and country music on his fiddle. He is survived by one daughter Debra M. Russell of York; one granddaughter, Taylor George of York; four brothers, Robert M. “Bob” McWatters of Chester, Grady A. McWatters and wife Ann of Gilbert, Gene A. McWatters and wife Martha of Charlotte, NC, and Jessie Harold McWatters of Chester; two sisters, Minnie L. McWatters of Chester and Eva M. Simmers and husband Danny of Rock Hill; and a number of nieces and nephews. Memorials may be made to Orrs Baptist Church Building Fund, 1266 Lancaster Rd., Chester, SC 29706.
