Buddy Dewayne Vess

Rock Hill Mr. Buddy DeWayne Vess, 66, died Tuesday July 20, 2021 at his home. A memorial service will be held at 4:00 PM, Tuesday July 27, 2021 at Word and Spirit Ministries with Bishop David Levister officiating. Interment will be private. Mr. Vess was born May 19, 1955 in Chester, SC and was a son of Geraldine Moon Vess Waters and the late Virgil Essery Vess, Jr. He was a graduate of Chester High School and attended North Greenville Jr. College, Gardner-Webb, Furman University and was a graduate of Baptist College of Charleston. Buddy also attended Southeastern Baptist Theological Summary. He was a retired minister and also worked at Walmart. Buddy enjoyed caring for disabled adults as well as children. In addition to his mother Buddy is survived by two sisters, Beverly B. Winchester of Chester, SC and Suzanne V.Roderick of Rock Hill, SC; four nieces, Melissa W. Famand (DJ) of Chester, SC, Kristen W. Commander (Jason) of Chester, SC, Megan C. Furr (fiancé Mark) of Rock Hill, SC and Alyssa C. Welch (Henry) of Chester, SC; one nephew, Trevor L. Roderick of Fort Mill, SC; fourteen great nieces and nephews. Memorials may be made to American Cancer Society, C/O Christy Wilburn, 587 Lakenglen Rd, Chester, SC 29706.
