September 14, 1970 — July 18, 2024

Brett Dixon, 53, of Rock Hill, SC, passed away on July 18, 2024, after a year-and-a-half-long battle with cancer. Brett was born on September 14, 1970, in Fredericksburg, VA, to James and Sybil Marie Taylor Dixon. Brett graduated from Olympic High School in Charlotte, NC, and York Technical College in Rock Hill, SC, with an Associate degree in Machine Tool Technology. He also attended Winthrop University, majoring in chemistry. Brett was employed as a chemical lab tech with Industrial Test Systems, Inc. in Rock Hill, SC. Brett enjoyed spending time with his daughter, Abby, and granddaughter, Karsyn, as well as traveling with them, Michelle, and Lou. Over the past year and a half, he became quite the jet setter, visiting the beach and mountains numerous times, Panama City Beach, cruising to the Bahamas, and taking trips to Las Vegas, Galveston, San Antonio, Austin, and numerous trips to Houston, TX in between. Brett loved being a "Pop Pop" to Karsyn and lit up anytime she entered the room. He was so thankful to God for allowing him the time to meet his granddaughter and to spend precious moments with his family. Prior to his cancer diagnosis, Brett and Abby enjoyed hiking waterfalls in Pisgah National Forest, beach trips, and carpentry projects. In addition to his parents, Brett is survived by his daughter, Abigail Elise Dixon (Ryan Graddy) and granddaughter, Karsyn Faron Dixon of Chester; two sisters, Donna Atkinson (Wayne) and Cindy Louthan of Rock Hill; one brother, James Dixon, Jr. (Melody) of Rock Hill; many nieces and nephews, and his caretaker Michelle Lancaster Gagan (Lou) of Chester. Brett is preceded in death by his Paternal grandparents, Walter O and Mary Ella Dixon. Maternal grandmother Juanita Hatcher, Maternal grandfather Woodrow Wilson Taylor, and brother-in-law Joe Louthan. A memorial service will be held at Calvary Baptist Church, 760 Calvary Church Rd., Carlisle, SC, on Monday, July 22, at 4:30 PM, with visitation prior to the service at 3:30 PM in the sanctuary. Memorials can be made to MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, TX, or Calvary Baptist Church. The family would like to thank everyone for their love, support, and prayers during this challenging time, and especially the owners of Industrial Test Systems, Inc. for going above and beyond as employers.
