Chester Mr. Billy Sanders Byars, Sr., 82, died Friday, October 23, 2015, at his home.Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, October 27, 2015, at First Church of the Nazarene with Rev. Ralph Byars and Mr. Wayne Byars officiating.Interment will follow in Chester Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Monday, October 26, at Barron Funeral Home, 133 Wylie St., Chester, SC. Mr. Byars was born April 3, 1933 in Chester, SC and was a son of the late Curtis Newman Byars and Lily Elizabeth Moore Byars.He attended the schools of Blackstock and was retired from Celanese as a mechanic.He loved being outdoors, was a great handyman and a wonderful storyteller.Mr. Byars attended the First Church of the Nazarene. He is survived by one son, Ronald Eugene Byars, Sr. (Susan) of Chester; two daughters, Barbara Byars Roof (A.J., Jr.) and Lena Byars Dillingham both of Chester; thirteen grandchildren; twenty-one great grandchildren; and two brothers, Elmer Byars of Arizona and Charles Byars (Leona)of Burlington, Iowa.Mr. Byars was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy “Midge” Hildreth Byars and a son, Billy Sanders Byars, Jr. Memorials may be made to First Church of the Nazarene, 182 Pinckney St., Chester, SC 29706.
