ROCK HILL, SC Mr. Billie Lee Myres, 86, was called home Saturday, November 22, 2014.The funeral service will be 2:00 PM Wednesday, November 26, 2014 at Union Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church with Reverend Neely Gaston officiating. Interment will be in Union Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00 – 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, November 26, 2014 in the fellowship hall of the church. Born October 1, 1928 in Cobden, Illinois, Mr. Myres was the widower of Reginia Dorine (Roach) Myres andthe son of the late Vernon Allen Lence and Vera Ruth Doughty Lence. He was a graduate of University High School class of 1947 in Carbondale, Illinois and also Brevard Community College, Melbourne, FL Mr. Myres was retired from U.S. Air Force as SMSGT having served during the Korean War. He worked through the Apollo Era at the Kennedy Space Center and retired from Rockwell International in York County, SC. He was a lifetime member of the American Legion Post 34 in Rock Hill, SC and an avid supporter of Wounded Warriors and Disabled American Veterans. Mr. Myres enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening and spending time with his family and friends. He enjoyed anything related to the space program or the Weather Channel. He was very patriotic and loved God and country. He is survived by five daughters, Karen Jean Myres Cowles of Rock Hill, SC, Sandra Kay Myres Bennett (Andy) of Chester, Cheryl Lee Myres Smith (Brad) of Melbourne, FL, Janet Lynn Myres Watson (Carlos) of Palm Bay, FL and Rebecca Marie Myres Hartzell (Tom) of Springboro, OH; ten grandchildren, Deborah Cowles, Miranda Cowles, Michelle O’Donnell(Robert), Reginia St Claire (Kevin),Billie Smith(Shannon), Tamara Mock (Kevin), Dustin Myres, Heather Cleaver (Jon), Samantha Hartzell and Gavin Hartzell; ten great grandchildren; one brother, Lowell Lence (Mary) of Lincoln, NE and one sister, Frances Lipsey of Illinois. In addition to his wife and parents Mr. Myres was preceded in death by his son-in-law Alfred Cowles, whom he loved as his son and a sister, Nancy Compton. Memorials may be made to Union A.R.P.
