Betty Bass Torbert

Chester, SC: Betty Bass Torbert, 83, died Friday, June 3, 2011 at Piedmont Medical Center, Rock Hill, SC. A Memorial Service will be held 11:00 AM Tuesday, June 7, 2011 at her home, 1127 RL?s Road, Chester, SC 29706 with Reverend Kevin Taylor officiating. The family will receive friend immediately following the service. Interment will be held at a later date. Mrs. Torbert was born in Edison,Georgia on February 9, 1928 a daughter of the late Andrew Washington Bass and Lillian Naomi Snider Bass. She was a graduate of Calhoun County High School in Edison, GA and Southern Business University in Atlanta, GA.Mrs. Torbert was retired from the U.S. Postal Service as Postmaster of Blufton and Blakley, GA and a member of Blufton United Methodist Church. She was the widow of John Eugene Torbert. Mrs. Torbert is survived by one son Larry Torbert and his wife Cathy of Chester, SC;four grandchildren, Blakely Torbert, Marianna Torbert, Jane Gibson and Kimberly McWatters all of Chester, SC; eight great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
