CHESTER: Mrs. Betty Ruth McElwee Clinton, 87, died Sunday, April 19, 2015 at the Chester Regional Nursing Center.The funeral service will be 2:00 PM Wednesday, April 22, 2015 at First Baptist Church of Chester with Rev. Clay Waldrip officiating. The interment will be in Chester Memorial Gardens.The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 PM Tuesday, April 21, 2015 at Barron Funeral Home. Born January 22, 1928 in Chester, SC, Mrs. Clinton was a daughter of the late Manly Edward and Janie Elizabeth Austin McAlwee. She was a graduate of Chester High School and was retired from Chester County Hospital.She was a member of First Baptist Church of Chester where she was a former Sunday School Teacher and former cub scout den mother. Mrs. Clinton was the widow of Jack L. Clinton, Sr. She is survived by one daughter, Susan Clinton Boyd and her husband Gene of Blackstock, SC and one son, Jack L. Clinton, Jr. and wife Susan Marshall of Lexington, KY; five grandchildren, Jason Clinton, Joni Helms, Andy Boyd, Rebekah Hinson and Matthew Clinton; six great grandchildren, Christopher Clinton, Caleb Clinton, Makayla Helms, Colbyn Hinson, River Hinson and Brielle Clinton and numerous nieces and nephews.In addition to her husband she was preceded in death by two grandchildren, Adam Clinton and Jacqueline Suzanne Boyd and one sister, Polly Cagle.
