RICHBURG Mrs. Betty Ann Gibson Bennett, 73, passed away October 3, 2011 at Piedmont Medical Center in Rock Hill, SC.The funeral service will be 4:00 PM Thursday, October 6, 2011 at Union ARP Church with Rev. Allen Derrick and Rev. James Gibson, III officiating.The interment will be in Union ARP Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2:00 ? 3:30 PM Thursday at the church fellowship hall. Born May 7, 1938 in Chester County, SC, Mrs. Bennett was a daughter of Estelle Grant Gibson of Lexington, SC and the late James A. Gibson, Sr. She was a 1956 graduate of Lewisville High School and a 1960 graduate of Winthrop College.She was a member of Union ARP Church for over fifty years where she was also a former Sunday School Teacher,choir member and a member of Women of the Church.She was a retired school teacher from Lewisville High School with over thirty years of service to Chester County Schools.While at Lewisville she was chairman of the English and French Departments.She was awarded a permanent seat at all athletic events because of her fervent support of the Lewisville Lions.She was a star basketball player and remains number two all-time scorer for Lewisville. In addition to her mother she is survived by her husband, John N. Bennett, Jr.; one daughter, Jane B. Gaston and her husband Strait of Lancaster, SC; three sons, Andy Bennett and his wife Sandy of Chester, Mark Bennett and his wife Debbie of Richburg and Bradley Gibson Bennett of the home; seven grandchildren, Michelle O?Donnell, Ginny St. Claire, Will Gaston, Elizabeth Gaston, James Bennett, John Mark Bennett, and Delaney Ann Bennett; three great-grandchildren, Kayley O?Donnell, David Freeman and William O?Donnell; one brother, Jimmie Gibson and his wife Jackie and one sister, Cathy Lanier and her husband Randy, all of Lexington, SC.
