Betty Roof Gaston

Chester, SC- Betty Roof Gaston, 77, died Tuesday, June 14, 2011 at White Oak Manor, Lancaster, SC. A Funeral Service will be held 11:00 AM Thursday, June 16, 2011 at Barron Funeral Home with Reverend Ken Compton and Reverend Grover Johnson officiating. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening at Barron Funeral Home from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM. Interment will be held in Evergreen Cemetery. Mrs. Gaston was born in Chester, SC on July 7, 1933 a daughter of the late Toy W. Roof and Maggie McWatters Roof.She attended the schools of Chester County, was a member of First Free Will Baptist Church and was retired from Acme Name Plate as a punch press operator. Mrs. Gaston was the widow of Lawrence Carl Gaston., Jr. She is survived by two daughters, Gail Granger and her husband Hal of Great Falls, SC and Priscilla Gregory and her husband Hal of Fort Lawn, SC; one sister, June Cameron of Chester, SC; five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Mrs. Gaston was preceded in death by a son, Carl E. Gaston, Sr. and two daughters, Diane McAbee and Carol Pettus.
