CHESTER: Mr. Benjamin “Ben” Joseph Jones, 89, died Thursday, August 27, 2015 at the Chester Regional Nursing Center.The funeral service will be 3:00 PM Saturday, August 29, 2015 at Barron Funeral Home with Reverend Ken Compton officiating.The interment will be at Chester Memorial Gardens.The family will receive from 1:30 – 3:00 PM Saturday, August 29, 2015 at Barron Funeral Home. Born October 9, 1925 in Murrayville, GA, Mr. Jones was the son of the late Maydole and Birdie Mae Gillespie Jones.He was a graduate of Chattahoochee High School in Clermont, GA and was retired from Gene Rachels Chevrolet Oldsmobile in Chester as a mechanic.Mr. Jones was an avid Bluegrass fan and a longtime supporter of Blackstock Bluegrass and a member of Orr’s Baptist Church. Mr. Jones was the widower of Jacqueline Bowers Jones. He is survived by one daughter Sue Thompson and her husband John of Chester; two sons, Joe Jones and his wife Cathy of Chester and Jimmy Jones and his wife Janet of Blackstock; three grandchildren, Katie Jo Carter and her husband Jeb of Chester, Ben Thompson of Spartanburg, SC and Jacob Jones of Blackstock, SC; two great-grandchildren, Abigail Carter and Benna Carter; two sisters, Fae Brady and her husband Candler and Lizzie Truelove both of Murrayville, GA; sister-in-law, Willodean Ledford and her husband Donald of Dahlonega, GA and his very special furry friend Turbo. Memorials may be made to Blackstock Bluegrass, 228 School Road, Blackstock, SC 29014 or Hospice Care of South Carolina, 173 Columbia Street, Chester, SC 29706.
