Barbara Henderson Montgomery

Fort Lawn, SC: Barbara Henderson Montgomery, 94, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, May 10, 2013. The family will receive friends Tuesday Evening, May 14, 2013 from 6:00 PM until 7:30 PM at Barron Funeral Home.A funeral service will be held 2:00 PM Wednesday, May 15, 2013 at Fort Lawn Baptist Church with Reverends Ted Hodges and Larry Linderman officiating.Interment will be held at 4:00 PM Wednesday at Concord Presbyterian Church Cemetery, Blackstock, SC. Mrs. Montgomery was born in Rosman, NC on March 12, 1919. She was a daughter of the late Charles Washington Henderson and Janie Cash Henderson and the widow of William Dickey Montgomery.She was a graduate of Rosman High School , Rosman, NC and Baptist Hospital Nurses Program, Columbia, SC. Mrs. Montgomery was retired from Springs Industries as a registered nurse and earlier in her career worked with Chester County Hospital and Saint Phillips Hospital. She was member of Fort Lawn Baptist Church. Mrs. Montgomery is survived by three sons, Charles Montgomery (Annie) of Edgemoor,SC,William “Billy” Montgomery (Jackie) of Savannah, GA and Robert Montgomery (Jan) of Richburg, SC; two daughters, Mildred Downey of Ventura, CA and Barbara Wise (Wesley) of Rock Hill, SC.Fourteen grandchildren, Lynn, David, Susan, Derek, Donn Ann, Lori, Niki, Monty, Donald, Brooke, Katie, Will, Jennifer and Michael; sixteen great-grandchildren and her brother, Truman Henderson of Mt. Holly, NC. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Melinda Jane Montgomery. Memorials may be made to Fort Lawn Baptist Church, 5742 Church St ,Fort Lawn, SC 29714.
