Barbara Jean Mahaffey Gwin

BLACKSTOCK, SC: Mrs. Barbara Jean Mahaffey Gwin, 78, died Friday, July 28, 2017 at Providence Hospital in Columbia, SC. The family will receive friends from 4:00 PM – 6:00 PM Sunday, July 30, 2017 at Barron Funeral Home. The funeral service will be 5:00 PM Monday, July 31, 2017 at Catholic-Presbyterian Church with Rev. Wayne Pruitt officiating with interment to follow in the church cemetery. Born February 5, 1939 in Lancaster County, SC, Mrs. Gwin was a daughter of the late Darlin Boyd Mahaffey and Melba Chapman Gwin.She was a graduate of Chester County Schools and York Technical College.Mrs. Gwin was a retired registered nurse from Fairfield Memorial Hospital and was also formerly employed for years with Chester County Hospital.She was a member of Catholic-Presbyterian Church where she served as deacon.In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Charles Floy Gwin and her sisters, Nora Blanche Crump and Sue Shelby. She was survived by her son Kevin Gwin and his wife Jada; two daughters, Mary Beth Gunter and her husband Tag and Sarah Lea McLean all of Blackstock, SC and numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
