Augusta Simpson McCallister

Augusta Simpson McCallister, 87, entered the presence of her Lord and Savior on March 9, 2026, at her home in Rodman, South Carolina.

She was born August 20, 1938, in the Rodman community of Chester to the late Amelia Saye Simpson and Harper Gaston Simpson. She was a member of Union Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church in Richburg, South Carolina. She was previously employed by Schumacher Industries and Chester Sportswear.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Clyde William McCallister, Jr.; her son, Clyde William McCallister III, her brothers, William Harper Simpson and Joseph Saye Simpson.

She is survived by her children Debbie McCallister, Amelia Giles (Jose), James McCallister (Virginia), daughter-in-law Dawn McCallister, seven grandchildren: Amber (Jason), Andrew (Kelsey), Morgan (Grayson), Hannah (Damon), Will, Jacob, and Lillian, three great-grandchildren: Evan, Brooke, and Roman, and her brother Dr. James Gaston Simpson.

Visitation will be Saturday, March 14, 2026 from 10:00 AM  until 10:45 AM in the Fellowship Hall of Union ARP  Church. The funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM at Union Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church Richburg, SC (3594 Lancaster Hwy., Richburg, SC 29729) with Rev. Dr. Neely Gaston officiating. Interment will follow at Union ARP Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Mrs. McCallister’s name to Union ARP Church (3594 Lancaster Highway Richburg, SC) and Union ARP Church Cemetery, David McCain 1254 Silverbrook Road Richburg, SC 29729.
