Arthur Loyd Gaston

Blackstock: Arthur Loyd Gaston, Sr., 88, died Saturday July 11, 2015 at his home. A funeral service will be held 11:00 AM Tuesday, July 14, 2015 at Catholic-Presbyterian Church with Reverend Wayne Pruitt officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends in the church sanctuary following the committal at the graveside. Mr. Gaston was born in Chester, SC on June 1, 1927 and was a son of the late Walker Leander Gaston and Trannie Lake Gaston. He attended the schools of Chester County and was a U.S. Navy veteran having served during WW II. Mr. Gaston was a dairy farmer and formerly worked as an insurance agent with Life of Virginia. He was a member of Catholic-Presbyterian Church where he served as an Elder for over forty-five years and was former president of the memorial association for many years. Arthur was a poll manager for the Hazelwood voting precinct. Mr. Gaston is survived by his wife of over sixty-five years, Evelyn Young Gaston; one daughter, Susan Gaston Bedford (Randy); one son, Arthur Loyd Gaston, Jr. (Tina) and three grandchildren, Ethan Gaston Bedford, Loyd Gaston and Jackson Gaston all of Chester, SC; one brother, Frank Leland Gaston (Barbara) of Fort lawn and several nieces and nephews.
