Arlene Inez Fifield Stephenson North

Chester, SC: Arlene Inez Fifield Stephenson North, 85, died Friday, October 27, 2023 at The Pearl in Fort Mill, SC. A Funeral Service will be held 2:00 PM Monday, October 30, 2023 at Zion Presbyterian Church with Reverend Al Ward officiating. The family will receive friends Monday from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM also at the church. Interment will be held in Zion Cemetery. Mrs. North was born in Lewiston, Maine on February 13, 1938 and was a daughter of the late Lester Fifield and Helen Mae Hunter Fifield. She was a graduate of Edward Little High School in Auburn, Maine, USC-Lancaster and also York Tech. Arlene was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She retired as a Registered Nurse having worked at Chester County Hospital and Piedmont Medical Center. She was a faithful member of Zion Presbyterian Church. Arlene was an accomplished seamstress and loved embroidery and crocheting. She also enjoyed cruises and traveling. She loved cats, dogs and animals in general. In addition to her parents, Arlene is preceded in death by her first husband, Joseph Harvey Stephenson, II. She is survived by her husband of over twenty-seven years , Bernard North; four children, Susan S. Varnadore of Blackstock, SC, Josie S. Gravley (Robbie) of Greer, SC, Joe Stephenson and James Stephenson both of Lowrys; one step-daughter, Karen Foster (Ken) of Charleston, SC ; one step-son, Mark North (Diane) of Richmond, VA; eight grandchildren, John Varnadore (Christine), Thomas Varnadore (Ashley), Jamie Gravley, Sam Gravley , Kayli Gravley, Bailey Stephenson, Keely Stephenson, and Kristin Zuar (Dan); two great-grandchildren, Lily Varnadore and Asher Benson; and one sister, Carolyn Cooper.
