Chester Mrs. Annie Hamacher Dickens, 97, died Tuesday, July 12, 2011 at the Hospice House in Rock Hill. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM Monday, July 18, 2011 at Barron Funeral Home with the Reverend Louis Vehaun and Reverend Jerry Devinney officiating. The family will receive friends from 10:00 to 11:00 AM Monday at Barron Funeral Home.Interment will be in Chester Memorial Gardens. Mrs. Dickens was born April 7, 1914 in Henderson, NC.She was a daughter of the late Henry and Minnie Smith Hamacher, and the widow of Raymond Vondale Dickens. She attended Rowan school in Rockingham, NC., andwas a member of Westside Baptist Church. Mrs. Dickens was retired from Springs Industries at the Gayle Mill as a spinner for over fifty years. She is survived by one daughter-in-law, Lounette Dickens; two granddaughters, Rhonda Polk and her husband Bobby of Rock Hill and Vonda Hawthorne and her husband Robert of Rock Hill; four great grandchildren, Chesley Polk, Bethany Polk, Evan Hawthorne and Adam Hawthorne and a step-great grandson, Ryan Hawthorne and numerous nieces and nephews.She was preceded in death by a son, Ronald Dickens, four brothers, Willliam Hamacher, Albert Hamacher, Eugene Hamacher and Joseph Hamacher and one sister Peggy Carringer. The family would like to say a special thank you to the staff of White Oak Manor and the Wayne T. Patrick Hospice House.
