Anne was born on November 14, 1924 in Chester, SC. She was the 7th of 8 children born to the late Charles and Minnie Brantley, also of Chester, SC. She was married on January 3, 1948 to Robert L. Doster, Sr. who preceded her in death in 2015. She is survived by her son Robert L, (Debbie) Doster Jr. of Chapin, SC.; B. Keith (Sharon) Doster of Chester SC.; Robin (Brian) Odom of Jackson Springs, NC; Her grandchildren; Cathy George, Wendy Wyler, Lauren Gonzales, Joanna Boettinger and Brian Doster; along with: Kayce Smith, Kourtney Sinclair and Kyle VanDeusen; 21 great grandchildren and two great, great grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by three grandchildren, Stephanie Doster, Joy Doster and Rachel Doster.
Anne or “Maw Maw” as she was affectionately known, was born during the roaring 20’s. Upon graduating Chester High School, she worked for Spring Industries at the Eureka Mill. During WW II, she served her country as one of the “Rosie Riveters” in Baltimore, MD. In her early life, she attended the Saluda Street Church of God. Later, she joined and was active at First Baptist church of Chester. Then, she and her husband, “Doc” Doster became founding members of West Chester Baptist Church, where she served as a Sunday School teacher, sang in the choir and worked on various committees.
MawMaw was a talented seamstress, loved playing Chinese Checkers, cards games, especially “set-back” (even though she often was accused of cheating), enjoyed a good story or joke, had a quick wit and a great sense of humor, played “Words with friends and Spider Solitaire on her tablet, loved singing the old hymns and reading her Bible.
She was a faithful wife to her husband for 67 years, a devoted mother and mother- in – law, a delightful and loving grandmother and GG to her greats and great-greats! She eagerly anticipated the return of her Savior, and though a strong Christian, could speak her mind, be very determined and an immovable force to be reckoned with…ok she was stubborn, in fact she outlived all her peers and almost made it to her 101st birthday!
We loved her so very much and will miss her greatly, but we rest on her favorite Romans 8:28 – “For we know that all things work together for good for those who love God and are called according to His purpose.”
In lieu of flowers, Anne would appreciate you donating to the ministry of: Grace Deaf Missions, 2109 Marshall Byars Rd, Chester, SC 2970.
