Mrs. Annie Lee Messick Bumgarner, 88, passed away peacefully at her home with her family on Friday, September 10, 2010.The funeral service will be 11:00 AM Monday, September 13, 2010 at Chester First Baptist Church with Rev. Clay Waldrip officiating.The interment will be in Chester Memorial Gardens.The family will receive friends from 10:00 ? 11:00 A.M. Monday at First Baptist Church. Born March 23, 1922 in Statesville, NC, Mrs. Bumgarner was a daughter of the late John William and Delia Clementine Byrd Messick.She was a graduate of Statesville High School in Statesville, NC and was a retired manager of Mack?s Laundramat in Chester, SC where she made many dear friends.She was a member of the Chester First Baptist Church where she was a member of the Gleaners Sunday School Class, Wednesday Night Supper Groups and Senior Adult Choir. She was a volunteer for the Chester Ministerial Association Food Bank.Mrs. Bumgarner, affectionately known as ?Miss Ann? or ?Ma-Maw?, was a sweet fun loving lady, who enjoyed being with family and friends. She is survived by her husband of sixty-nine years, Ken Bumgarner; one son, Randy Bumgarner of Columbia, SC; one daughter, Sherrie B. Boston and husband Ronnie of Columbia; four grandchildren, Bridget M. Carter and Sydney Bumgarner both of Columbia, Toni Mathis of Hickory, NC and Elizabeth A. Ayers of Florence, SC; four great grandchildren, Jacob K. Cameron, Eli L. Burroughs and Isabel L. Burroughs all of Hickory, NC and Cameron Carter of Columbia.She was preceded and reunited in death by a daughter Brenda B. Miller; three sisters, Erlene Moss, Irene Moose and Pauline Cloer; three brothers, Raz Messick, Marvin Messick and Bill Messick.
