Alice Darby Ervin

Huntsville, Alabama (formerly of Chester, SC): Alice Darby Ervin, 79, formerly of Chester, died Wednesday, April 13, 2022 at the home of her sister in Huntsville, Alabama. A memorial service will be held 2:00 PM Saturday, May 7, 2022 at Barron Funeral Home with Reverend Gene Gaston officiating . The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Alice was born in Mt. Holley, NCon September 30, 1942 and was a daughter of the late Cedoc Smith Darby, Jr. and Lillian Mobley Darby. She was a graduate of Chester High School and was retired from Allied Department Store as a manager. Alice was a devoted member of Westside Baptist Church. She and her husband, Clyde were instrumental in keeping up the bus ministry for many, many years. Alice was a choir member, active with the WMU and was a part of the benevolence committee. Mrs. Ervin is preceded in death by her beloved husband Clyde W. Ervin, Sr.and her step-son Clyde W. Ervin, Jr. and her brother, Tommy Darby.She is survived by her sister and caretaker, Sara Gibson of Huntsville, AL; step-daughter, Wanda Kay Ervin of Chester, SC; brothers, Lee Darby of Belton, SC , Billy Joe Darby of Manassas, VA, and Cedoc "Doc" Darby, III of Chester, SC; sisters, Betty Gamel of Drummonds, TN, Juanita Moses of Columbia, SC and and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.
