Aldaray Stone Carns

March 5, 1937 — February 16, 2025

Aldaray Stone Carns, of Chester SC, passed away peacefully on February 16 at the age of 87. She was born on March 5, 1937, daughter of the late Dan and Maggie Stone. She was preceded in death by her husband, Hutchinson Ware Carns, and her two brothers, Donald Stone and Harvey Stone. Ms. Carns was a long time resident of Chester SC and a dedicated member of the Chester ARP Church. She was a passionate and prolific quilter; her children and grandchildren proudly decorate their houses with her beautiful creations as a daily reminder of her love and creativity. Ms. Carns was an avid Atlanta Braves fan who anxiously followed the ups and downs of her favorite players. She also had a green thumb and loved to plant and grow flowers and vegetables throughout her life. Ms. Carns grew up in Ballentine, SC. She graduated from Irmo High School and married Hutchinson Carns at Bethel Lutheran Church in 1955. They happily raised a family together in Greenwood SC and later Chester SC until Hutchinson's death in 1986. Surviving are their four children: son Danny Ware Carns (Frances), daughter Cheryl Carns Wylie (Robert), daughter Pamela Carns Roddey (Lee), and son Philip Hutchinson Carns (Christina). Ms. Carns was also especially proud of her four grandsons, Andrew Roddey, Chris Carns, Evan Roddey, and Thomas Carns, and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services for Aldaray Carns will be held at 11am on Tuesday, February 18, 2025, at the Chester ARP church with Rev. Clint Davis officiating. Burial will immediately follow in Evergreen Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 9:30 am until 10:45 am in the Barron Room at the Chester ARP Church prior to the funeral service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Chester ARP Church, P.O. Box 174, Chester SC 29706, American Cancer Society, PO Box 6704 Hagerstown, MD 21741, or American Diabetes Association PO Box 7023, Merrifield, VA 22116. Special thanks to the Chester ARP Church family for their loving prayers and support and for the White Oak long term care facility in Rock Hill for their exceptional care.
