Chester Mrs. Margaret Ruth Ouzts Cassels,85, died Tuesday, February 10, 2015, at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center.Funeral services will be held at 3:00 pm, Friday, February 13, 2015, at Wilksburg Baptist Church with Rev. Sean Sellers and Rev. David Brannen officiating.Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2:00 to 3:00 pm on Friday at Wilksburg Baptist Church, 3121 Pinckney Road, Chester, SC. Mrs. Cassels was born August 18, 1929, in Cherokee County, SC and was a daughter of the late Jeter Floyd Ouzts and Vida Canupp Ouzts.She was a graduate of Chester High School class of 1946 and worked most of her life in the family mercantile business.She served as a volunteer for over 25 years at the Chester Nursing Center. Mrs. Cassels was the oldest member of Wilksburg Baptist church having joined the church over 68 years ago.She was a former Sunday School teacher for the beginners and ladies class, former President and Director of the WMU, member of the Cemetery Committee, recording Secretary of the church for over 30 years, senior citizens coordinator and assisted in VBS and other activities and committees in the church. She is survived by her husband of over 67 years, Robert D. “Bobby” Cassels; one daughter, Susan Cassels of Prosperity, SC; one son, Michael D. Cassels (Linda) of Union, SC; two grandchildren, Leigh Cassels Turner (Sean) and Warren Cassels (Heathley) both of Greenville, SC; five great-grandchildren, Anna, Lucy, Robert, Michael, and Thomas; one niece, Frances Thomas of Rock Hill, SC; and one nephew Kenneth “Skeet” Thomas of Chester, SC.Mrs. Cassels was preceded in death by a sister, Edna Ouzts Thomas.
