CHESTER: Mrs. Lillian Gertrude McWaters Byars Starnes, 87, went to Heaven on Sunday, June 1, 2014 at Chester Regional Nursing Center.The funeral service will be 11:00 AM Wednesday, June 4, 2014 at the First Free Will Baptist Church with Rev. James Sanders, Pastor Ralph Byars and Rev. Melvin Pressley officiating.The interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery.The family will receive friends from 6:30 – 8:30 Tuesday, June 3, 2014at Barron Funeral Home. Born January 22, 1927 in Chester, SC, Mrs. Starnes was a daughter of the late Fred and Mary McManus McWaters.She attended the schools of Chester County and was retired from Springs Industries as a weaver.She was a member of the First Free Will Baptist Church where she was involved in the Seniors Ministry and Ladies Auxilary. Mrs. Starnes was the widow of Floyd H. Byars and Loyd L. Starnes, Jr. She is survived by two sons, Pastor Ralph L. Byars, Sr. (Bonnie) of Roebuck, SC and Wayne Byars (Mary) of Chester, SC; one daughter, Linda B. Ivey (Russel) of Blackstock, SC; one brother, James McWaters (Margaret) Richburg, SC; four grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews and a special caregiver Ann McDonald of Chester. She was preceded in death by an infant son, Floyd William Byars, a brother Robert T. McWaters and an infant sister Pauline McWaters.
