Chester, SC: Kay Stephenson Hoag, 66, died Monday, August 16, 2021 at MUSC Chester. A Graveside Service will be held at Evergreen Cemetery 10:00 AM Thursday, August 19, 2021 with Reverend Bob Finley officiating. The family will receive friends Wednesday, August 18, 2021 from 2:00 PM until 3:30 PM at Barron Funeral Home and immediately following the service at the graveside. Mrs. Hoag was born in Chester, SC on February 22, 1955 and was a daughter of the late Edgar Brown Stephenson and Mary Hall Stephenson. She was a graduate of Chester High School. Kay worked for over twenty-five years in finance and earlier in her career she worked with Pundts and Food Lion. Kay enjoyed helping people and encouraging them to enjoy life. If she could help ease someone’s burden she felt she was doing the work of God. She was a loving and devoted grandmother. Her family was a big deal to her. She enjoyed spending time with her family. Kay was a happy person who always had a smile. She is survived by her two sons, Chad Cassells (Cherie) of Monroe, NC and Justin Hoag (Amanda) of Chester, SC; five grandchildren Briley and Mylee Cassells, Aaron Hoag and Bryleigh and Gracie Sutton; two brothers William Stephenson (Betty), Johnny Stephenson (Kay); three sisters Mary Rose Milsaps (Alvin), Linda Ashley and Tammy Price all of Chester, SC and numerous nieces and nephews.
