Chester:Samuel Albert Brooks, 88, died Monday, March 12, 2012 at his home. A funeral service will be held 11:00 AM Thursday, March 15, 2012 at Barron Funeral Home with Reverend Michael Shaffer officiating. The family will receive friends Thursday at Barron Funeral Home from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM. Interment will be held in Pleasant Grove Presbyterian Church Cemetery. Mr. Brooks was born November 1, 1923 in Chester County, South Carolina. He was a son of the late James Wesley Brooks and Sadie Evans Gibson Brooks. He attended Wellridge School, was a veteran of the United States Marines having served during World War II and was retired from J.P. Stevens as a mechanic. Mr. Brooks was of the Presbyterian faith and was a member of the Great Falls Masonic Lodge #277 for over sixty years. He was the widower of Ida Marie Clowney Brooks. Mr. Brooks is survived by one daughter, June Brooks of Chester, SC; two sons, Don Brooks and his wife Ruby of Williamston, SC and Ralph Brooks and his wife Marsha of Great Falls, SC; two grandchildren, Tammy Bagwell and Wesley Brooks and his wife Tiffany all of Belton, SC; two great-grandchildren, Emeli Bagwell and Emma Grace Brooks both of Belton, SC; two sisters-in-law; three brothers-in-law and numerous nieces and nephews. The family would like to say a special thank you to the Hospice team, Judy Faust, Lynn Lee and Carolyn Williams.
