CHESTER: Mr. Jerry Richard Roberts, 75, died Monday, April 25, 2016.The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 PM Wednesday, April 27, 2016 at Barron Funeral Home.The funeral services will be 2:00 PM Thursday, April 28, 2016 at Calvary Baptist Church with Rev. David Sealy officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Born February 1, 1941 in Chester County, SC, Mr. Roberts was a son of the late Frank Major Roberts and Lucille Arnold Elkins. He was a graduate of Chester High School and also York Technical College.He was retired from Springs Industries after forty-five years of service.Mr. Roberts was a member of Calvary Baptist Church where he served as a choir member, served on the building and grounds committee, financial committee, and was also a part of the mission team.He was a member of Sandy River Masonic Lodge #207. He is survived by his wife of over thirty-six years, Betty Crouch Roberts; one son, William “Bill” Lancaster (Jennifer) of Chester; one daughter, Michelle Lancaster Gagan (Louie) of Chester; two grandchildren whom he treasured, MiKayla Lancaster and Abby Dixon both of Chester; two brothers, Franklin A. Roberts (Gloria) of Ft. Walton Beach, FL and Billy W. Roberts (Rosemary) of Chester and a niece whom he reared Mary Alice Brown (Terry) of Chester.He was preceded in death by a son, Jonathan Richard Roberts and a brother, Thomas P. Roberts.
