Chester, SC: Mr. Henry Melvin Wessinger, 88, died Friday, April 13, 2018 at his home.The funeral service will be 3:00 PM Sunday, April 15, 2018 at Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church with Rev. Dan Sullivan officiating.The interment will follow in Chester Memorial Gardens.The family will receive friends from 2:00 PM – 3:00 PM Sunday, April 15, 2018 at Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church. Born December 27, 1929 in Chester, SC, Mr. Wessinger was a son of the late John Henry and Mittie Estelle Amick Wessinger.He attended the schools of Chester County and was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force.He was a member of Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church where he was a member of the Breakfast Club.Henry was known for his ability to cook hash as a fund raiser for his church.He was a former Boy Scout Master of Troop 73 and also an Explorer Leader.He was a volunteer for Chester County Hospital and the Veterans Administration having transported veterans to the Dorn VA Hospital in Columbia, SC. He is survived by his wife of over65 years, Shirley Melrose Rape Wessinger; three sons, Michael Wessinger, Ronnie Wessinger (Nancy), Ricky Wessinger (Kelli) all of Chester; one daughter, Tiera Lewis (Randy) of Chester; seven grandchildren, Staci Dreher (Johnny) of Fort Mill, SC; Jill Piers (D.J.) of Rock Hill, Annie Wilson (Robert) of Columbia, SC; Michael Wessinger (Krista) of Fort Mill, SC; Keely Lewis of Chapin, SC;Dylan Lewis of Rock Hill and Micah Graham (Chris) both presently serving in the U.S. Armed Forces in S. Korea; two great grandchildren, Noah Dreher of Fort Mill, SC and Sullivan Piers of Rock Hill, SC; one brother, George Wessinger (Sybil) of Chester and one sister, Nan Wyatt of Chester.Also, his extended family James Latham,Shirley Campbell and Richard Harrington.His special senior companion volunteer, Charles Stevenson.
